Puppet animated film, an adaptation of the short story of the same name by Anton Chekhov. Dacha resident Vykhodtsev receives a note from a mysterious stranger inviting him to meet in the gazebo. Hesitant, he goes to the rendezvous, where he encounters student Mitya, who received the same invitation. A quarrel ensues. Vykhodtsev’s wife, who appears, explains that it was a joke designed to get the men out of the house while the floors were being washed.

Shortly before the New Year's, charming synchronous swimming trainer Masha, convivial vet Fyodor and poet-romanticist Souren become victims of a real estate scam: all of them are sold the same summer cottage. Who is a real owner of the cottage? Whom will Masha choose for herself? Will the main characters celebrate the New Year's? All question will be answered in the end of this good-hearted funny comedy.

Blending documentary, theatre and fiction film, this is a comedy about the cinema and the actor, and a heartfelt homage to the Riga Film Studio.

A gaunt, middle-aged man barely recovered from a serious illness, an awkward company employee, the hosts’ likable son, who comes home late — each of the men on the terrace are captivated by Haruko’s pale, white arms, inflaming the jealousy of the company director’s wife. Literary anecdotes abound, as does petty bickering. The masks they’ve carefully crafted are suddenly torn away, exposing their tainted humanity. Desires, jealousies and secrets are laid bare during 90 minutes on the terrace, culminating in a shocking and not exactly happy ending.
